If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Great Basin National Park. Take NV-487 N towards Baker, NV. Continue for approximately 30 miles until you reach the junction with US-93. Turn left onto US-93 N. After about 12 miles, turn right onto I-80 W. Follow I-80 for about 45 miles until you reach exit 1 for NV-233/Imlay. Turn right onto NV-233 and follow it for approximately 4 miles until you reach E Star Peak Rd. Turn left onto E Star Peak Rd. Lightning Mountain Monument will be on your right at 800-804 E Star Peak Rd, Imlay, NV 89418. Make sure to check the vehicle's fuel level and prepare for any remote stretches.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. The nearest bus service is Greyhound, which operates routes through Elko, NV. From Elko, you would need to arrange for a taxi or ride-share service to Imlay, as public transportation does not directly reach Lightning Mountain Monument. The taxi ride will take approximately 1 hour and may cost between $70 to $100, depending on the service. Ensure to book your taxi in advance, as options may be scarce.
Biking
For the adventurous, biking from Great Basin is an option, although it is quite challenging due to the distance (approximately 50 miles).
