Car
If you're driving from the town of Mount Charleston, start by heading south on NV-157 (Charleston Blvd). Follow NV-157 for approximately 7 miles. Pay attention to the signs for the Charleston Peak area. You will reach the Mount Charleston Lodge, which is a great place for parking and getting information if needed. From here, you can access the trails that lead to Charleston Peak.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the RTC (Regional Transportation Commission) bus service. The nearest bus stop is on NV-157, near the Mount Charleston Lodge. Make sure to check the RTC schedule for the bus times. Once you get off at the lodge, you can ask local staff for recommendations on the best trail to reach Charleston Peak. Note that public transport may not run frequently, so plan ahead.
Hiking
After reaching the Mount Charleston Lodge, you can start your hike to Charleston Peak. The most popular trail is the Charleston Peak Trail. The trailhead is located near the lodge. It's about a 8-mile round trip with a significant elevation gain, so be prepared with water, snacks, and appropriate hiking gear. There is no cost to hike the trails, but make sure to check for any permits required at the lodge.
