Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto US-50 E from your location in Sierra Nevada. Continue on US-50 E for approximately 70 miles until reaching the intersection with NV-95 N. Take the exit towards NV-95 N and merge onto NV-95 N. Follow NV-95 N for about 35 miles until you reach Fallon, NV. Once in Fallon, look for signs directing you to Grimes Point Archaeological Area. The site is located just off NV-50. Turn onto Grimes Point Road, and follow it to the archaeological area parking lot. The drive will take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. There is no admission fee to enter the archaeological area.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer to use public transportation, you can take a Greyhound bus to Fallon, NV from major cities in Nevada. Once you arrive at the Fallon bus station, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service (such as Uber or Lyft) to reach Grimes Point Archaeological Area, which is about 8 miles away from the bus station. It is advisable to check for local taxi services in advance or arrange a rideshare app upon your arrival. The total cost for the taxi ride may vary, but expect to pay around $15-$20 for the trip.

• Bicycle

  For adventurous travelers, biking to Grimes Point can be an option. You can bike from Fallon following NV-50 E. The distance is around 8 miles from Fallon to the archaeological area. Ensure you have a bike map and be cautious of traffic on the highway. There are no dedicated bike lanes, so it is important to wear a helmet and be visible. This option is best for experienced cyclists in good physical condition. The ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes.
