Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving in Grande Terre, head towards the town of Poindimie, which is approximately 200 kilometers northeast of Nouméa. From Nouméa, take Route Territoriale 1 (RT1) towards the north. Once you reach Poindimie, follow the signs to Îlot Tibarama. Park your car at the nearest public parking area, as direct parking may not be available right next to the island. Prepare for a short boat ride to the island, which usually costs around 200 to 300 XPF per person.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  You can take a public bus from Nouméa to Poindimie, which is operated by the local transport service. Ensure to check the bus schedule for departure times, as they may vary. The bus journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Once you arrive in Poindimie, you will need to find local transportation or a taxi to take you to the waterfront where you can catch a boat to Îlot Tibarama. The boat ride will typically cost between 200 to 300 XPF per person.

  Once you are in Poindimie, proceed to the waterfront area where local boat operators offer trips to Îlot Tibarama. It's advisable to negotiate the price and confirm the return schedule. The boat ride usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Be sure to check the weather conditions, as boat services may be affected during bad weather.
