Car
If you are traveling by car in Maré, start from the main town of Tadine. Head south on the Route de Tadine towards the direction of the airport. Continue on this road for approximately 15 km, following signs for the southern beaches. Once you reach the coast, park your car at the designated parking area near the beach. From here, you will need to take a local boat (a common transportation method in the area) to Walpole Island. The boat ride takes about 15-20 minutes and costs approximately 1500 XPF per person.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a local bus from Tadine to the closest beach area. Buses run every hour and cost around 300 XPF. Get off at the terminal near the southern beaches. From there, you will need to walk for about 10 minutes to reach the boat launch area. Look for local boat operators who can take you to Walpole Island.
