Car
If you are driving from the main town in Maré, Koumac, head south on Route de la Plage. Continue straight for approximately 11 kilometers. You will see signs directing you to Yejele Beach along the way. Once you reach the beach, there is parking available near the entrance. Note that there may be a small fee for parking, so have some cash ready.
Public Transportation
To reach Yejele Beach via public transport, look for local bus services that head towards the southern part of Maré. Buses typically leave from the central bus station in Koumac. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at Yejele Beach, as not all buses may go directly there. The fare is usually around 200 XPF (Pacific Francs). After getting off, it’s a short walk of about 500 meters to reach the beach.
Bicycle
If you prefer a more adventurous route, renting a bicycle in Koumac is a great option. Ride south on Route de la Plage, which is about 11 kilometers to Yejele Beach. The ride will take you through scenic views of Maré’s landscape. Ensure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated, as there are limited facilities along the way.
Walking (for the adventurous)
For those who are up for a long trek, walking from Koumac to Yejele Beach is possible. The distance is approximately 11 kilometers and will take around 2.5 to 3 hours. Take Route de la Plage and follow the signs towards the beach. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and snacks, as there are no shops along this route.
