Ponton Day Trip SWIM with fish’s All meals included with LYVAI
Best day ever
Great experience especially for kids old enough to snorkel. The shellfish platter is amazing and the service is excellent. Grandson rated it 'best day ever' and it certainly was one of the holidays highlights. We were fortunate our wonderful Lyvia guide spoke English, as translation can be an issue in NC.

Full Day Water Taxi to Amedee Island from Noumea
What the? But it was a great day overall...
We did this trip in Sept 2026. I looked at the Viator advert and while it wasn't explicit, photos appear to show a restaurant, plus the lighthouse. For this reason, I chose this island visit. I checked the description and it didn't say we needed to take food. (Lesson learnt - do not try to infer things!). I contacted the provided the day before to confirm they had us on their list and was advised we DO need to take food, but there are chairs on the island. The good: ========= Swimming around tame turtles is a wonderful experience that I'll always be glad I have had. It is amazing to see them casually nibbling away at sea grass with pilot fish attached. Turtles are extremely shy in other places I have snorkeled (like the Whitsunday Islands off Australia). The natural scenery is beautiful. The water was crystal clear and an amazing light blue thru to teal to acquamarine. The coral closer to shore was quite damaged but further out it improved. The sea life was beautiful and plentiful. The area appears generally healthy. There are some umbrellas on the beach and it is possible to tan or sit in the shade. The journey to the island 20 km from mainland is quick. The sea snakes are plentiful (very poisonous but not interested in humans if we don't bother them) and interesting to watch coming out of the sea and making thier way around. We saw some birdlife. The gulls do their best to scavenge and spend the day arguing with each other😉. Our boat driver was pleasant, helpful and quite skilled, making efforts to minimise the bumps on a fairly windy morning. The bad: ======= The description indicates we can walk to the top of the lighthouse. It is closed and there is no indication that is will ever open. The chairs were not available - with signs/padlocks on them. The restaurant is shut with no trespassing signs everywhere, so the outdoor tables/ chairs were not possible to use. There is a big mess of paused construction activities right near the jetty. Access to walk right around the small island is prevented. There are limited paths. There apparently are permanent residents, which is presumably the reason for this. Thoughts for others: ================== Get an underwater camera or waterproof cover for your mobile. I'm sorry I didn't think about this when I was packing at home - not easy to get in Noumea. The island has a mobile tower - signal 4 bars apparently. The bay can be quite choppy. The fast boat ride can get quite thumpy as the boat drops over swells. After the trip, my son said he thought it was about to sink and was quite stressed. The boat is absolutely fine, and I enjoyed the slightly wild ride (go those core muscles!), but for people who get seasick easily, it could be a challenge. People with tender feet may benefit from coral shoes. It's hard to buy anything, and if you find any they will be expensive, so pack at home. The tour providers leant us goggles and snorkels which were good enough quality. The location of the jetty where we were to meet in the morning was not clear from the description - look for E to the right of the whole marina. We wandered around for a while until we were directed to the right location. The bakery at the nearby shopping centre does a great baguette, and fantastic palmieres so we had a good feed on the island. We couldnt get a cooler box/eski but bought an insulated bag from the supermarket, and had packed frozen bottles of water which worked fine. Overall, we had a good day, but there were a few unnecessary frustrations with miscommunication and inaccurate info on the tour description. It will always be hard to validate what is available and working in Noumea as websites are not kept up to date. It's probably best to expect nothing and prepare accordingly. Noumea's best offering is its natural beauty, and the people are lovely.

Full Day Nouméa Signal Island Turtle Tour
Amazing!
We spend the day on Signal Island and thoroughly enjoyed it. The boat ride was easy and the guide spoke English for us. Swimming with turtles was an absolute highlight, but the whole day was glorious.
