Public Transit
From Exeter, take the NH 101-East bus towards Portsmouth. The bus will take you directly to Portsmouth. Once in Portsmouth, disembark at the last stop in the downtown area. From there, walk towards the waterfront. Follow the signs to Peirce Island, which is located to the southeast of the downtown area. It is about a 20-minute walk from the bus stop. You will walk along the waterfront, enjoying views of the harbor until you reach the entrance to Peirce Island.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in Exeter. Start by heading east on Water Street, then take a left onto Epping Road (NH-27). Follow NH-27 until you reach the junction with NH-1A, then turn right. Continue on NH-1A, which will lead you towards Portsmouth. Once in Portsmouth, follow the signs to the waterfront, and then head southeast to reach Peirce Island, which is about a mile from the downtown area.
Walking
If you're up for a longer trek, you can walk from Exeter to Portsmouth. Start at the center of Exeter and head east on Water Street until you hit Epping Road (NH-27). Continue straight on NH-27, which will eventually lead you to Portsmouth. Once you reach the city, head toward the waterfront and follow the signs to Peirce Island, located southeast of the downtown area. This walk is approximately 8 miles and may take around 2-3 hours, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
