Car
From Interstate 80, take exit 34B for Route 206 North. Continue on Route 206 North until you reach the town of Layton, NJ. Turn left onto Mountain Rd. Follow Mountain Rd for approximately 2 miles until you reach Buttermilk Falls. There is parking available nearby. Note that parking may have a fee, so be prepared for that.
Public Transportation
Take the NJ Transit train from New York City to the Andover station. From there, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach Buttermilk Falls, as public transportation options are limited in this area. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and may cost around $30-40. Make sure to arrange your return transport in advance.
Hiking
If you are already on the Appalachian Trail, follow the markers in the direction of Layton, NJ. The trail will lead you toward Mountain Rd. Once you reach Mountain Rd, turn left and follow the road for about 1 mile to reach Buttermilk Falls. This route is a picturesque hike with scenic views.
