Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards the Bear Mountain State Park area. From the NY-9W S, take the exit for Bear Mountain Bridge Road towards Bear Mountain State Park. Follow Bear Mountain Bridge Road until you reach Perkins Memorial Drive. Turn onto Perkins Memorial Drive and follow it to the top where Perkins Memorial Tower is located. Parking is available at the tower site, but be aware there may be a parking fee during peak season.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, take a train from New York City to Peekskill Station via the Metro-North Railroad. From Peekskill Station, you can catch the 'Bear Mountain Shuttle' (check local schedules for availability) which operates during weekends and holidays. The shuttle will take you to Bear Mountain State Park. Once at Bear Mountain State Park, follow the signs to Perkins Memorial Drive. If the shuttle is not available, you may need to consider a taxi or rideshare service to reach Perkins Memorial Tower.
Walking
If you are already within Bear Mountain State Park, you can hike the trails leading to Perkins Memorial Tower. The tower is accessible via a series of well-marked hiking trails. Follow the 'Perkins Memorial Trail' which begins near the visitor center. The hike is moderately strenuous and offers scenic views along the way. Be prepared with appropriate footwear and water.
