Walking
From the Asbury Park Boardwalk, head north along the beach until you reach 5th Avenue. Turn left on 5th Avenue and walk west until you reach the intersection with Ocean Avenue. Continue walking straight until you reach the nearest bus stop for the NYC-bound MTA bus. Take the bus heading towards Brooklyn. After a scenic ride, once you arrive in Brooklyn, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Dyker Heights, which is known for its Christmas lights display.
Public Transit
From Asbury Park Train Station, take the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line train towards New York Penn Station. At New York Penn Station, transfer to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) towards Brooklyn. Disembark at the 36th Street station in Brooklyn. From there, you can either walk or take a local bus towards Dyker Heights. If walking, head south on 36th Street until you reach 4th Avenue, then turn left and continue until you reach Dyker Heights.
Biking
If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Asbury Park. Head west on Asbury Avenue, then south on Main Street. Continue straight until you find a bike lane leading to Westwood Avenue. Follow the bike path signs directing you to the nearest train station. Once at the station, you can lock your bike and continue your journey via train or bus to Brooklyn.
