Bus
To get to Staten Island from Asbury Park, start by heading to the Asbury Park Transportation Center located at 1 Convention Hall. Board the NJ Transit Bus #837 heading towards the Port Authority. After about an hour, you will arrive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City. From there, follow the signs to the Staten Island Ferry located at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street. The ferry is free and takes about 25 minutes to cross over to Staten Island, offering stunning views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline.
Train and Ferry
Begin your journey at the Asbury Park Train Station, located at 1 Main Street. Take the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line train to New York Penn Station. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Penn Station, exit and walk to the nearby Hudson River at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street. Here, you will find the Staten Island Ferry terminal. Board the ferry, which is free and operates frequently. The ferry ride will take approximately 25 minutes to reach Staten Island.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Asbury Park. Start your ride towards the nearest train station, Asbury Park Train Station. From there, take the bike path to the Long Branch area where you can connect with the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line. Once at Penn Station in New York, lock your bike and walk to the Staten Island Ferry terminal at 8th Avenue and 42nd Street. The ferry ride is free and takes about 25 minutes to reach Staten Island. Make sure to check bike regulations for the ferry before embarking.
