Exploring the Rich History of the New York Transit Museum

Getting There

• Ferry

  From Hoboken, head to the Hoboken Terminal located at 1 Hudson Place. Once at the terminal, look for the NY Waterway Ferry service to Manhattan. Purchase a ticket to the Brooklyn Bridge Park/DUMBO ferry stop. After a brief ride, disembark at the Brooklyn Bridge Park/DUMBO stop. From there, walk towards the Brooklyn Bridge, and then head towards Schermerhorn Street. The New York Transit Museum will be on your left at 99 Schermerhorn St.

• PATH Train

  Make your way to the PATH station, which is located at 1 Hudson Place in Hoboken. Take the PATH train towards World Trade Center. Get off at the World Trade Center station and transfer to the subway by following the signs to the A or C subway lines. Take the A or C train to Jay St-MetroTech station. Exit the station and walk towards Schermerhorn Street. The New York Transit Museum is located at 99 Schermerhorn St, just a short walk away.

• Bus

  Find the NJ Transit bus stop at Hoboken Terminal. You can take the NJ Transit bus number 87 or 119 towards New York City. Ask the driver for a stop that is closest to the Brooklyn Bridge or Downtown Brooklyn. Once you get off, head towards Schermerhorn Street. The New York Transit Museum will be located at 99 Schermerhorn St.

• Walking

  If you're up for a walk, head east towards the waterfront from your location in Hoboken. Walk along the waterfront park until you reach the Hoboken Terminal. From the terminal, you can take the ferry or the PATH train as described above. Alternatively, you could take a scenic route along the waterfront and cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot, which will lead you to Brooklyn. Once you reach Brooklyn, head towards Schermerhorn Street and you will find the New York Transit Museum at 99 Schermerhorn St.
