Public Transit
To get to The Battery in New York City from Paterson, NJ, start by heading to the Paterson train station, located at 1 Market St, Paterson, NJ 07505. From the station, take a NJ Transit train (North Jersey Coast Line or Raritan Valley Line) towards New York Penn Station. Make sure to check the schedule for train times. Once you arrive at New York Penn Station, exit the station and look for signs directing you to the 34th St subway entrance. Take the subway (Line 1) downtown towards South Ferry. After approximately 10 stops, get off at the South Ferry station. From there, it's a short walk to The Battery, which is located at New York, NY 10004.

If you prefer to take the bus, head to the Paterson Bus Terminal located at 126 Broadway, Paterson, NJ 07505. Look for a NJ Transit bus route that goes to New York City, such as the 190 or 197. Confirm with the schedule for the next bus. After arriving in New York City, disembark at a stop close to Battery Park (which The Battery is a part of). From the bus stop, follow signs for Battery Park, and you will arrive at The Battery.

If you are already in downtown Paterson and prefer to walk, you can start at the Great Falls National Historical Park and head south on McBride Ave towards Market St. Continue on Market St until you reach the intersection with Main St, then turn left. Follow Main St until you reach the intersection with Paterson Plank Rd. Continue walking for about 1.5 miles to the nearest bus stop that takes you to New York City. Take the bus into the city and then follow the guidance for public transit or buses to reach The Battery.
