Public Bus
From Paterson, head to the nearest bus stop where you can catch the NJ Transit bus. Look for the 190 bus route heading towards New York Port Authority. Make sure to check the schedule for the next departure. After a ride of approximately 30-40 minutes, get off at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan. Once you exit the terminal, walk to the nearby Subway station and take the 1 train towards South Ferry. Get off at the 72nd Street station. Exit the station and walk west on 72nd Street for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at The Dakota, located at 1 W 72nd St.
Train
Make your way to the Paterson train station. Take the NJ Transit train on the North Jersey Coast Line towards New York Penn Station. The journey should take around 30-35 minutes. Once you arrive at Penn Station, follow the signs to the subway. Take the 1 train from 34th Street-Penn Station towards South Ferry. Disembark at the 72nd Street station. After exiting the subway, walk west on 72nd Street for about 5 minutes, and you will reach The Dakota at 1 W 72nd St.
Walking
If you are near the downtown area of Paterson, you can also enjoy a scenic walk to the train station, which is roughly 1 mile away. Take Market Street to Broadway, then head towards the Paterson train station. From the station, follow the train instructions to reach New York Penn Station, and continue with the subway instructions as detailed above to get to The Dakota.
