Public Transportation
From downtown Carlsbad, walk to the nearest bus stop on S Canal St at the intersection with W Fox St. Take the bus route that heads towards the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The bus will drop you off at the nearest stop to the park entrance. Once you arrive at the park entrance, follow the signs to the Bat Flight Amphitheater, which is approximately a 1-mile walk from the entrance. The path is well-marked, and you will enjoy the scenic views along the way.
Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle from a local rental shop in Carlsbad. Start from the downtown area and head southwest on W Fox St, which will lead you to US-62. Follow US-62 until you reach the entrance of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The ride is approximately 20 miles, and you can enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape. Once you reach the park entrance, follow the signs for the Bat Flight Amphitheater, which is about a mile away from the entrance.
Walking
If you're up for a longer walk, you can start from downtown Carlsbad. Head southwest on W Fox St towards S Canal St. Continue onto NM-285 S, which will eventually lead you to the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The walk is approximately 20 miles and will take several hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated. Upon reaching the park entrance, follow the signs to Bat Flight Amphitheater, which is about a mile away from the entrance.
