From the Visitor Center, head south on Dalmont St towards W Pierce St. Turn left onto W Pierce St and walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with US-62/180. Cross the street and continue walking straight onto the trail that leads to the entrance of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Follow the signs for Slaughter Canyon Cave. The hike to the cave entrance will take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
