Car
From Silver City, NM 88061, take NM-15 N for approximately 30 miles. The road leads directly into the Gila Wilderness. Look for the signs indicating Lake Roberts as you approach. Once you reach the intersection with Forest Road 151, turn left and continue for about 3 miles until you arrive at Lake Roberts. Parking is available near the lake.
Public Transportation
Currently, there are no direct public transportation options to Lake Roberts from major transit hubs. However, you can take a bus or shuttle service from Silver City to the Gila National Forest Visitor Center. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Lake Roberts, which is about 20 miles away. It's advisable to check ahead for local taxi services, as availability may vary.
Hiking
If you are already in the Gila Wilderness and prefer a hiking option, you can access Lake Roberts via the numerous trails in the area. From the nearest trailhead, follow the signs for the Lake Roberts trail. Ensure you have appropriate hiking gear and a map of the area. This option is free but requires physical fitness and time. The hike can take 2-4 hours depending on your starting point.
