Car
From the center of Los Alamos, take NM-502 E towards Santa Fe. After about 6 miles, merge onto NM-4 N towards Jemez Springs. Continue on NM-4 for approximately 21 miles until you reach the junction with FR-10. Turn left onto FR-10 and follow this road for about 3 miles until you reach the Dome Wilderness parking area. There are no fees to park, but ensure your vehicle is suitable for dirt roads.
Public Transportation
Unfortunately, there are limited public transportation options directly to Dome Wilderness. However, you can take the NM Rail Runner Express train from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. From Santa Fe, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the vicinity of Jemez Springs. Once in Jemez Springs, you can rent a car or find a local shuttle service to reach Dome Wilderness, which is about 10 miles away.
Hiking
If you are already in the surrounding areas, particularly near Jemez Springs, you can hike into Dome Wilderness. Start at the nearest trailhead, which can be accessed from FR-10. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, as well as a map or GPS device, since cell phone service may be limited in the wilderness area.
