Hiking
From the main visitor center in Bandelier National Monument, locate the Main Loop Trailhead, which is about 1 mile from the visitor center. Begin your hike on the Main Loop Trail, which will lead you through the scenic canyon. Follow the trail until you see the sign for Alcove House. The hike to Alcove House is approximately 1.5 miles (round trip) and will take about 1-2 hours depending on your pace. Prepare for steep sections with ladders. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Shuttle Service (Seasonal)
During peak seasons, a shuttle service may operate within Bandelier National Monument. Check the visitor center for shuttle availability and schedules. If available, you can take the shuttle to the Alcove House trailhead. The shuttle is included in the entrance fee to the park, which is $25 per vehicle valid for 7 days.
