Walking
From the center of Los Alamos, head south on Central Avenue. Walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Trinity Drive. Turn left onto Trinity Drive and continue walking for another 0.5 miles. You will pass several shops and restaurants along the way. Once you reach the intersection with Diamond Drive, turn right. Continue straight on Diamond Drive, which will turn into NM-502. After approximately 1 mile, look for a small trailhead on your left, which leads to the Kwage Mesa Trail. Follow the trail signs to reach the beginning of the trail.

If you have access to a bicycle, start from the downtown area of Los Alamos. Take Central Avenue south and turn left onto Trinity Drive. Follow Trinity Drive for 0.5 miles and then turn right onto Diamond Drive. Continue on Diamond Drive for about 1 mile, where you will find the trailhead for the Kwage Mesa Trail on your left. Biking will allow you to enjoy the scenic views along the way at a faster pace.

Using the local bus service, locate the nearest bus stop in Los Alamos. Take the bus route that heads towards the Los Alamos Nature Center. Get off at the stop near the Nature Center. From there, you can follow the signs towards the Kwage Mesa Trail, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from the Nature Center. Head south on the main path, and follow the signs directing you to the trailhead.
