Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Los Alamos, start at the Visitor Center located at 475 20th Street. Head south on 20th Street until you reach Central Avenue. Turn right onto Central Avenue and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. When you reach the intersection with Trinity Drive, turn left. Follow Trinity Drive until you reach NM-502. Continue straight onto NM-502, which will lead you out of Los Alamos towards Santa Fe. After approximately 20 miles, take the exit toward St. Francis Drive (US-84) and merge onto St. Francis Drive. Follow this road for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with Old Santa Fe Trail. Turn left onto Old Santa Fe Trail, and you will find the New Mexico State Capitol at 490 Old Santa Fe Trail on your right.

    From Los Alamos, walk to the nearest bus stop at the intersection of Central Avenue and 20th Street. Take the 'Blue Bus' (Route 505) towards Santa Fe. The bus will take you directly to the Santa Fe Depot. Once you arrive at the Santa Fe Depot, transfer to the Santa Fe Trails Bus (Route 2) towards the Plaza. Get off at the stop at Old Santa Fe Trail, and walk south for a short distance. The New Mexico State Capitol will be located at 490 Old Santa Fe Trail, just a few steps away from the bus stop.
