Getting There

Walking
Start from the center of Los Alamos at Ashley Pond Park. Head north on Central Avenue towards the intersection with 15th Street. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with NM-502 (East Los Alamos). Cross the street and turn left to follow the sidewalk along NM-502. After approximately 0.3 miles, turn right onto the Los Alamos County Trail, which will lead you through a wooded area and towards the Ranch School Ice House. Follow the trail for about 1 mile until you reach a clearing where the Ice House is located. Look for signs indicating the historical landmark.

Biking
If you're renting a bike in Los Alamos, start at the Los Alamos Bike Shop on Central Avenue. Head east on Central Avenue and then turn left onto 15th Street. Follow 15th Street until it turns into NM-502. Continue along NM-502, riding carefully on the bike lane. After about 0.5 miles, look for the entrance to the Los Alamos County Trail on your right. Take this trail and follow it for about 1 mile until you reach the Ranch School Ice House, where you can park your bike nearby and explore the area.

Public Transportation
From the Los Alamos Visitor Center, catch the Blue Bus Line headed towards the White Rock area. Get off at the 'Cañon de Valle' stop, which is the closest stop to the Ranch School Ice House. From there, it's about a 15-minute walk. Head south on the trail that leads into the forest, and follow the signs towards the Ice House. Keep an eye out for the historical markers that will guide you directly to the site.
