Getting There

Walking
From the Plaza in Socorro, head northwest on Grantham Street towards North California Street. Continue straight for about half a mile until you reach the intersection with US-60 (New Mexico Highway 1). Cross the highway carefully, and proceed to follow the sidewalk along the west side of the road. After about 0.3 miles, you will see a sign for the Quebradas Backcountry Byway. The entrance is approximately 12 miles from Socorro, so prepare for a long walk or consider using a bike for faster travel.

Start at the Socorro Plaza and head northwest on Grantham Street. Continue onto North California Street until you reach the intersection with US-60 (New Mexico Highway 1). Carefully cross the highway and follow the road northwards. After about 12 miles, you will see the entrance to Quebradas Backcountry Byway on your right. The ride will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your speed. Make sure to stay hydrated and wear a helmet.
