Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Socorro, head southeast on New Mexico Highway 1 (NM 1) towards Lemitar. Walk for about 2 miles until you reach the intersection with NM 60. Continue straight onto NM 60 East for another 1.5 miles. As you approach Lemitar, look for the signs directing you to the Socorro Nature Area. The entrance is located on the right side of the highway, just before you reach the town of Lemitar.

  • Biking

    Starting from Socorro Plaza, take California Street heading east. Continue until you reach the intersection with NM 1 (also known as South California Street). Turn right onto NM 1 and bike for about 2 miles. After that, continue straight as NM 1 merges with NM 60. Bike for an additional 1.5 miles until you see the signs for Socorro Nature Area on your right, just before entering Lemitar.

  • Public Transportation (Bus)

    If you prefer using public transport, check the local bus schedule for the Socorro Transit. Take the bus heading towards Lemitar. Inform the driver that you wish to get off at NM 60 near Lemitar. Once you arrive, walk back towards the highway for a short distance, and you will see the entrance to Socorro Nature Area on your right side.
