Walking
To reach the Abandoned Observatory Telescope, start at the White Sands Visitor Center. Head south on US-70 E for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with NM-213. Turn left onto NM-213 and continue walking for approximately 2 miles until you see signs for the White Sands Missile Range. At this point, look for the entrance to the hiking trails on your right. Follow the trail markers which will guide you towards the observatory, approximately another 1.5 miles away.

If you have a bicycle, start at the White Sands Visitor Center. Head east on US-70 E, then turn left onto NM-213. Continue biking for about 2 miles until you reach the White Sands Missile Range entrance. There are designated bike paths that will take you towards the observatory. It's around 1.5 miles from the entrance to the telescope site, making it a total of about 4 miles from White Sands Visitor Center.
