Start your adventure at the White Sands Visitor Center, located at 19955 Hwy 70, Alamogordo, NM 88310. From the Visitor Center, head east towards the entrance of the White Sands National Park. Once inside the park, follow the Dunes Drive eastward for approximately 8 miles until you reach the end of the road. At the end of Dunes Drive, park your belongings safely and begin your hike on the Alkali Flat Trail. This trail will lead you through the stunning white gypsum dunes. Organ Needle is located a few miles to the north of this trail. Keep an eye on the landmarks and the trail markers as you navigate toward the Organ Needle peak. Be sure to bring plenty of water and sun protection as the trail can be challenging and the sun can be intense.
