Getting There

• Public Transit

  Start at the Buffalo Metro Rail Station (Main Street). Take the Metro Rail to the Allen/Medical Campus Station. From there, transfer to the 8 Elmwood Avenue bus heading south. Get off at the stop at Elmwood Avenue & Delaware Avenue. Walk to the nearby 20 Delaware bus stop and board the 20 bus towards Orchard Park. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the Orchard Park stop at the intersection of Quaker Road and South Buffalo Street. From there, it's approximately a 1.5-mile walk to the Eternal Flame Hiking Trail entrance. Follow Quaker Road south, then turn right onto South Buffalo Street, and continue straight until you reach the entrance to the trail.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Buffalo. Start at the Buffalo Outer Harbor and take the scenic bike path south along the waterfront. Follow the path to South Park Avenue, then turn right onto South Park Avenue heading west. Continue to Lake Avenue, then take a left onto Lake Avenue heading south. Follow the road until you reach Orchard Park. The total distance is approximately 12 miles, and it should take about an hour of biking time, depending on your pace. Make sure to lock your bike at the trail entrance.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy a long walk, you can start from downtown Buffalo. Head south on Main Street until you reach the Buffalo Riverwalk. Walk along the river until you reach the intersection with South Park Avenue. Follow South Park Avenue southward for about 8 miles. You will pass several parks and neighborhoods. Once you reach Orchard Park, continue walking toward the Eternal Flame Hiking Trail. This option is quite lengthy and may take about 3-4 hours, so prepare accordingly with water and snacks.
