Getting There

• Car

  From any location in the Catskill Mountains, take Route 28 towards Phoenicia. If you're coming from the north, simply follow Route 28 south. If you're coming from the south, follow Route 28 north. Once you reach Phoenicia, look for Woodland Valley Road. Turn onto Woodland Valley Road, and continue for about 2.5 miles. Slide Mountain Wilderness is located at 455 Woodland Valley Rd, Phoenicia, NY 12464. There is a parking area available for visitors. Note that parking may incur a fee, so be prepared with cash.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transportation, take a bus to Phoenicia from nearby larger towns such as Kingston or New Paltz. The bus line to look for is the Trailways New York service. Once you arrive in Phoenicia, you will need to either walk or use a local taxi service to reach Woodland Valley Road. It's about 2.5 miles from the bus stop to Slide Mountain Wilderness, which may take approximately 50 minutes to walk. Taxis can be arranged through local services, and you should expect to pay around $10-15 for a taxi ride.

• Biking

  For the more adventurous, biking from Phoenicia to Slide Mountain Wilderness is an option. Rent a bike in Phoenicia and take Woodland Valley Road directly to the park entrance. The distance is approximately 2.5 miles, and the ride may take around 15-20 minutes. Be aware of the road conditions and traffic, as you will be sharing the road with vehicles.
