Car
If you are driving, start from the main street in Hunter Mountain. Head east on NY-23A and continue for about 3 miles. Look for the sign for 'Plateau Mountain Trailhead' on your right. Turn onto the dirt road leading to the trailhead parking area. Please note that parking may be limited, and there might be a parking fee of around $10, which can be paid at a kiosk on-site.
Public Transportation
Take a bus from Hunter Mountain to the nearest public transport hub, which is the Catskill Mountain Shuttle. Once at the shuttle stop, board the bus that heads towards Tannersville. You will need to get off at the 'Plateau Mountain Trailhead' stop. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited. The fare for the shuttle is approximately $2.50.
Hiking
From the Plateau Mountain Trailhead, begin your hike on the Plateau Mountain Trail. This trail is part of the Devil's Path and is well-marked. The hike is approximately 3.5 miles one way, so be prepared for a round trip of about 7 miles. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry plenty of water. The trail can be steep and rocky, so take your time and enjoy the beautiful views along the way.
