Car
From Hunter Mountain, start by heading south on NY-23A. Continue for about 6 miles until you reach the junction with NY-214. Turn left onto NY-214 and follow it for approximately 3 miles. After passing through the village of Phoenicia, continue on NY-214 for another 2 miles until you reach the intersection with Woodland Valley Road. Turn left onto Woodland Valley Road. The Slide Mountain Wilderness trailhead is located at 455 Woodland Valley Rd, Phoenicia, NY 12464, which is about 1.5 miles down the road. Look for parking areas near the trailhead.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the Trailways bus service from New York City to Phoenicia. The bus will drop you off in the center of Phoenicia. From there, you can either walk or take a taxi to the Slide Mountain Wilderness. The distance from the bus stop to the trailhead is about 3 miles, so walking may take approximately 1 hour. Taxis are generally available, but it is advisable to call ahead to ensure a pickup.

For those already in the area, you can hike directly to Slide Mountain from the Woodland Valley Campground. From the campground, follow the marked trail which begins near the parking area. The hike is about 2.5 miles to the summit and is moderately challenging, providing beautiful views of the Catskills along the way.
