Start at the Ithaca Commons (the heart of downtown Ithaca). From the Commons, walk to the nearest bus stop at Green Street. Take the Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) bus #30 towards Buttermilk Falls State Park. The bus will take you directly to the park. Be sure to check the TCAT schedule for the most current times. The ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Get off at the Buttermilk Falls State Park stop.

If you prefer cycling, begin at the Ithaca Commons. Head east on State Street, then turn left onto Seneca Street. Continue until you reach Route 13. Follow Route 13 south for about 2 miles, then turn right on East Buttermilk Falls Road. The park entrance will be on your left. The total distance is approximately 3 miles, and it should take about 15-25 minutes depending on your cycling speed.

For a scenic walk, start at the Ithaca Commons. Walk south on Cayuga Street, then turn right on East State Street. Follow East State Street to the intersection with Route 13, then turn left onto Route 13. Walk along Route 13 for about 1.5 miles until you reach East Buttermilk Falls Road. Turn right onto East Buttermilk Falls Road, and the park entrance will be on your left. This walk is about 2 miles and will take approximately 40-50 minutes.
