Car
If you are driving from downtown Lake George, start by heading south on Canada Street (NY-9) towards the intersection with NY-149. Continue on NY-9 for approximately 0.5 miles. Turn left onto NY-149 and follow it for about 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance to Prospect Mountain Highway. The entrance to Prospect Mountain is well-marked. There is a parking fee of $10. Once parked, you can either hike up the mountain or take the scenic drive to Overlook#1, which offers stunning views of Lake George and the surrounding area.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the Lake George Shuttle Service which operates during the summer months. Board the shuttle from the main stop at the Lake George Steamboat Company dock. Request to be dropped off at the entrance of Prospect Mountain Highway. The shuttle fare is approximately $5 each way. Once you arrive, you can either hike the trail to Overlook#1, which is about a 1.5-mile walk, or if the road is open for vehicular traffic, you may catch a ride with others heading up. Make sure to check the shuttle schedule in advance for return times.

Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can also bike to Overlook#1. Rent a bike from one of the local shops in Lake George. From the village, head south on Canada Street (NY-9) to NY-149. Follow NY-149 for about 1.5 miles to reach the entrance of Prospect Mountain Highway. The ride is uphill and may be challenging, but the views at the top are worth the effort. Remember to wear a helmet and follow all traffic laws.
