From Lake Placid, head to the Lake Placid Bus Station located at 1 Main St. Take the Adirondack Trailways bus that heads towards Plattsburgh. Make sure to check the schedule in advance for departure times. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. You will want to get off at the Ausable Chasm stop.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Lake Placid. Head south on NY-73 towards Keene, then take a right onto US-9. Continue on US-9 for about 8 miles until you reach Ausable Chasm. The ride is scenic and will take approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on your speed.
Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and up for a long walk, you can walk from Lake Placid to Ausable Chasm. Start at Main St and head south on NY-73. After about 3 miles, you will reach the junction with US-9. Continue south on US-9 for about 5 more miles. This will be a lengthy trek, taking around 2-3 hours, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water.
