Train
If you're coming from New York City, take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) from Penn Station to the Port Washington station. From there, you can catch a local bus or a taxi to Hempstead House. The address is 127 Middle Neck Rd, Sands Point, NY 11050. The bus options include the N25 or N26 routes, which will take you close to the entrance of the preserve.
Bus
From the Port Washington station, you can take the N25 bus towards Great Neck. Ride until you reach the Sands Point Preserve stop. From there, it’s a short walk to Hempstead House located at 127 Middle Neck Rd. Follow the signs to the preserve entrance.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can ride from the Port Washington station to Hempstead House. The distance is approximately 2.5 miles. Head northwest on Main St, then turn onto Shore Rd, and continue until you reach Middle Neck Rd. Follow Middle Neck Rd to your destination.
Walking
If you are staying nearby or prefer to walk, you can stroll along Middle Neck Rd. Make sure to use designated walking paths where available and be cautious of traffic. The distance from Port Washington station is about 2.5 miles, which may take approximately 50 minutes to an hour.
