Getting There

• Driving

  If you are driving from the Mohawk Valley region, head southwest on NY-5S toward NY-167 N. Merge onto I-90 E toward Albany. Continue on I-90 E for approximately 50 miles. Take exit 23 for I-787 N toward Albany. After about 1.5 miles, take exit 1C for US-9 N toward Troy/Albany. Merge onto Broadway, then turn left onto State St. The New York State Capitol will be on your right at the intersection with Washington Ave. Parking options may include street parking or nearby parking garages, which may incur a fee.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a Greyhound or Trailways bus from a local bus station in the Mohawk Valley to Albany. Buses typically run several times a day and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at the Albany bus terminal, exit the station and head west on Broadway. Turn left onto State St. The New York State Capitol will be located at the intersection with Washington Ave. Make sure to check the bus schedules for any changes or costs.

• Train

  If you prefer traveling by train, Amtrak services are available from the Mohawk Valley area. Board an Amtrak train at the nearest station to your location (such as in Utica or Schenectady) heading towards Albany-Rensselaer. The train ride usually takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at Albany-Rensselaer station, you can either take a local bus or taxi to reach the New York State Capitol. If you choose a taxi, it is about a 10-minute ride.
