Once you enter the park, follow the signs to Vivekananda Cottage. Please note that there may be an entrance fee for the state park, which is generally around $8 per vehicle.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, your best option is to take a bus from Alexandria Bay or Clayton to Wellesley Island. Once you arrive at the nearest bus stop, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Vivekananda Cottage, as public transport options are limited on the island. Be prepared for potential taxi fares which can vary, typically ranging from $10 to $20 depending on the distance.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and would like to cycle, there are bike paths around Wellesley Island. You can rent a bicycle in Alexandria Bay and ride on NY-12 E towards Wellesley Island. Once you reach the entrance of Wellesley Island State Park, follow the bike-friendly paths to reach Vivekananda Cottage. Walking
If you are already on Wellesley Island and staying nearby, you can walk to Vivekananda Cottage. From the nearest lodging, head towards the Wellesley Island State Park entrance and follow the signs to the cottage. Walking paths are available, but be cautious of traffic on the roads. It’s a pleasant walk through nature, but ensure you have appropriate footwear.
