From Yonkers, head to the Yonkers Metro-North train station. Take the Hudson Line train towards Grand Central Terminal. Get off at the 125th Street station in Manhattan. From 125th Street, transfer to the 4, 5, or 6 subway line at the 125th Street station. Head downtown towards Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and get off at the Astor Place station. Once you exit the station, walk east on Astor Place, then turn right onto 2nd Avenue. Continue walking south on 2nd Avenue until you reach East Houston Street. The Liz Christy Garden will be located on your right, between 2nd Avenue and Bowery.

From Yonkers, you can take the Bee-Line Bus #1 towards the Bronx. Get off at the last stop in the Bronx and transfer to the Bx19 bus towards 138th Street-Grand Concourse. Ride the Bx19 until you reach the 125th Street stop. From there, transfer to the 4, 5, or 6 subway line at the 125th Street station, heading downtown towards Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. Get off at the Astor Place station. Exit the station, walk east on Astor Place, then turn right onto 2nd Avenue. Continue south on 2nd Avenue until you reach East Houston Street.
