If you are driving, start from the main town of Waitangi on Chatham Islands. Head south on the main road (Chatham Island Road), which runs along the coast. After about 8 kilometers, turn left onto Taia Hapupu Road. Continue on this road for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the entrance to J.M. Barker Hapupu National Historic Reserve. There is parking available at the reserve.
