    Getting There

    Car

    From Fox Glacier, head south on State Highway 6 (SH6) towards Whataroa for about 7.5 km. Look for signs for Lake Matheson on your left. Turn left onto Lake Matheson Road and follow it for about 4 km until you reach the entrance to Lake Matheson. There is a parking area available at the entrance. Note that there may be a small parking fee of around NZD 10.

    Public Transportation

    If you prefer to use public transport, check with local tour operators in Fox Glacier for shuttle services to Lake Matheson. Some operators provide direct shuttle services for around NZD 20-30 per person. Once you arrive at the Lake Matheson entrance, you will need to pay a small fee for parking if you have a vehicle. Walk along the designated paths to reach Reflection Island, which is accessible via the main walking trail around the lake.

    If you are already at Lake Matheson, you can walk to Reflection Island by following the well-marked walking trails.
