Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the central Hamilton area, start at Garden Place, which is a central square. From here, head northeast on Victoria Street toward Ward Street. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection with Anglesea Street. Turn left onto Anglesea Street and follow it until you reach the Hamilton Lake Domain. Once at the Domain, walk along the lake edge until you see signs for the Waikato River Walk. Follow the signs that lead you toward the riverbank.

  • Public Transport - Bus

    From the Hamilton Transport Centre located at 1 Bryce Street, take one of the buses heading toward the Saint Andrews area. You can take the 'Route 14 - Hamilton East' or any other bus that stops near Saint Andrews. Ask the driver to let you know when to get off near Te Araroa Trail. Once you get off the bus, walk towards the river and follow the path that leads to the Waikato River Walk.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in central Hamilton. Start by heading south on Victoria Street and turn left onto Collingwood Street. Continue straight onto the cycle path along the river. Follow the path along the Waikato River until you reach the Waikato River Walk entrance, which is well marked and easily accessible.
