Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, head towards Hastings city center. From Napier, take State Highway 2 towards Hastings. Once you reach Hastings, follow the signs for Karamu Road. Albert Square is located at 100 Karamu Road South, Hastings. Look out for nearby landmarks such as the Hastings District Court, which is adjacent to the square. Parking is available on the street and in nearby parking lots, but be mindful of any parking restrictions that may apply.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Albert Square using public transport, you can catch a bus from various points in Hawke's Bay. The bus service operates frequently, and you can check the local bus schedule for routes that stop at Karamu Road. Once you board a bus heading towards Hastings, request to get off at the nearest stop to Karamu Road South. From there, it’s just a short walk to Albert Square. Make sure to have some cash or a bus card for fare payment, which typically costs around NZD 2.50 to NZD 5.00 depending on the distance.

• Walking

  If you are already in Hastings and prefer to walk, find your way to the central area of Hastings. From the Hastings i-SITE Visitor Centre, head south on Heretaunga Street towards Karamu Road South. Turn right onto Karamu Road, and continue walking for about 10-15 minutes. Albert Square will be on your left at 100 Karamu Road South. This is a pleasant walk with local shops and cafes along the way.
