Getting There

  • Bus

    From Masterton city center, head to the Masterton Bus Stop located on Chapel Street. Catch the 'Wairarapa Connection' bus towards Palmerston North. Make sure to inform the driver you want to stop at the Mount Bruce stop, which is approximately 30 minutes from Masterton. Once you arrive at the Mount Bruce stop, walk towards the entrance of Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, which is clearly marked and a short walk from the bus stop.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, start at Masterton's Queen Elizabeth Park. Head south on Queen Street, then turn left onto Park Avenue. Continue straight until you reach SH2 (State Highway 2). Turn right and follow SH2 for about 10 kilometers. Look for the Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre sign on your right, and follow the signs to the entrance, which is a short distance off the highway.

  • Walking

    For those who enjoy walking, start at Masterton's central park (Queen Elizabeth Park). Walk south along Queen Street until you reach Park Avenue. Turn left on Park Avenue and walk towards SH2 (State Highway 2). It's about a 10 km walk, so prepare for a long trek! Once you hit SH2, cross the road and head south until you see the Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre sign. Follow the sign to the entrance, which is just off the highway.
