Kaiteriteri Beach: A Coastal Paradise in Tasman Bay

Getting There

• Bus

  From Nelson city center, head to the Nelson Bus Station located on Bridge Street. Purchase a ticket for the bus route heading towards Motueka. The bus will take approximately 45 minutes to reach Kaiteriteri. Once you arrive at the Kaiteriteri bus stop, walk towards the beach, which is just a short 5-minute walk down Kaiteriteri-Sandy Bay Road.

• Bike

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local shop in Nelson. Head towards the Great Taste Trail, which starts at the Nelson waterfront. Follow the trail towards the Richmond area, and continue along the coastal path towards Motueka. The ride to Kaiteriteri Beach will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Kaiteriteri, follow the signs to the beach.

• Walking

  While walking directly from Nelson to Kaiteriteri is not feasible due to the distance (approximately 50 km), you could walk to the nearest bus stop at the Nelson Bus Station, and then take the bus as described above. Alternatively, if you are in the nearby areas like Mapua, you could enjoy a scenic walk along the coastline towards Kaiteriteri, but plan for a long trek.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  You can also use a taxi or a rideshare service (like Uber) from anywhere in Nelson to Kaiteriteri Beach. Simply request a ride to 'Kaiteriteri Beach' via the app or tell the taxi driver. The drive will take around 45 minutes, and it's a convenient option if you're traveling in a group or carrying beach gear.
