    From Nelson city center, walk to the Nelson Bus Station located on 75 Trafalgar Street. Take the 'Nelson to Kaiteriteri' bus operated by Nelson Coachlines. The bus will take you directly to Kaiteriteri. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Kaiteriteri, ask the driver to let you off at the Kaiteriteri Beach stop.

    After getting off at the Kaiteriteri Beach stop, walk towards the Kaiteriteri Beach. From the beach, follow the path to the left along the coastline. Walk for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the Split Apple Rock. The rock is located off the shore, so you can enjoy the view from the beach.

  • Kayaking

    If you wish to explore the rock up close, you can rent a kayak from one of the rental shops at Kaiteriteri Beach. Follow the instructions given by the rental staff to safely paddle out to Split Apple Rock. It is a short distance from the beach and offers a great perspective of the rock formations.
