If you're driving from Dunedin, head south on SH1. Take the exit for SH88 towards Port Chalmers, then follow this road as it curves around the harbor. Continue onto Port Chalmers Road, which will eventually lead you to Camp Road. Turn left onto Camp Road, and follow the signs to Larnach Castle, which is approximately 15 minutes from Dunedin. There is a parking area available on-site, and parking is free.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take the bus from Dunedin to Port Chalmers. The bus service is provided by Go Bus, and you can catch a bus from the central bus station in Dunedin. Check the current timetable as services may vary. Once you arrive in Port Chalmers, you can either walk or take a taxi to Larnach Castle, which is about a 30-minute walk uphill from the bus stop. Alternatively, there are shuttle services to the castle that may be available, especially during peak tourist seasons, so inquire locally.
