If you are driving from Dunedin, take State Highway 1 (SH1) north. After about 15 kilometers, take the exit toward Portobello Road (State Highway 88) and follow it for approximately 20 kilometers. Continue straight onto Portobello Road, which will take you through the Peninsula. Look for signs directing you to Okia Reserve. The reserve is located at Okia Flat, 9077, and you can park at designated parking areas near the reserve entrance. Note that there may be no entry fees to access the reserve.

To reach Okia Reserve by public transport, catch a bus from Dunedin to Portobello. You can take the 14 or 16 bus service, which operates regularly. The bus journey will take about 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Portobello stop closest to Okia Flat. From there, it's approximately a 20-minute walk to the reserve entrance. Ensure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for the latest updates, and be aware that a bus fare will apply, typically around NZD $3-5.
