Getting There

    Starting from the Taupo Information Centre located at 38 Lake Terrace, head east on Lake Terrace towards Tongariro Street. Continue straight onto Tongariro Street for approximately 800 meters until you reach the intersection with Spa Road. Turn left onto Spa Road and walk for about 1 kilometer. You will notice the Taupo Golf Club on your left. Continue on Spa Road until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Poihipi Road. After walking about 1.5 kilometers, look for a sign for Eika Cave on your left. Follow the path leading into the bush for approximately 500 meters to reach Eika Cave.

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Taupo. Start from the Taupo Information Centre and head east on Lake Terrace. Follow the same route as the walking directions until you reach Spa Road. Once on Spa Road, cycle past the Taupo Golf Club and continue to the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Poihipi Road. Cycle for about 1.5 kilometers, and look for the sign for Eika Cave. Follow the path leading into the bush for approximately 500 meters to arrive at Eika Cave.
