    From Tauranga, head to the Tauranga Bus Interchange located at 5 Durham Street. Take the Bay Hopper bus route 1 towards Mount Maunganui. Ride the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Bayfair Shopping Centre. From there, transfer to the Bay Hopper route 2 heading to Papamoa. After about 15 minutes, get off at the Papamoa Beach stop. Follow the signs towards the beach and continue walking south along the coastline until you reach Lake Rotorua. This journey will take you around 1 hour total.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local shop in Tauranga. Start your journey at the Tauranga waterfront along The Strand. Follow the cycle path heading towards the Mount Maunganui area. Continue along the coast, and after reaching the Mount, head south on the shared path that runs parallel to the beach. Keep cycling until you reach the vicinity of Lake Rotorua. This scenic route will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your pace.

    For those who enjoy walking, start at the Tauranga waterfront. Head south along The Strand, which is a popular promenade. Continue walking until you reach the Mount Maunganui area.
