Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the central city of Hamilton, Waikato. Head south on State Highway 1 (SH1) for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach Pōkeno. Take the exit toward Pōkeno and drive into the town. Continue straight on Pōkeno Road, then turn onto Te Ara Aukati Terrace. The waterfall is located at 43 Te Ara Aukati Terrace. There is a parking area available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, take a bus from Hamilton to Pōkeno. You can catch a bus from the Hamilton Transport Centre on Anglesea Street. Depending on the schedule, you may need to transfer at the Pōkeno bus stop. Once you arrive in Pōkeno, you can either walk or take a taxi for the last leg of your journey to 43 Te Ara Aukati Terrace where the waterfall is located.   If you are already in Pōkeno, you can reach the waterfall on foot. From the town center, head south on Pōkeno Road and then turn onto Te Ara Aukati Terrace. It is approximately a 20-minute walk (about 1.5 km) to the waterfall. The path is relatively easy to navigate.

  For a more direct route, consider using a taxi or rideshare service from anywhere in Waikato to Pōkeno. If you are at a hotel or popular location, simply request a ride to 43 Te Ara Aukati Terrace, Pōkeno 2471. This is a convenient option if you prefer not to drive or navigate public transport and can cost between NZD 30-50 depending on your pickup location.
